A One-Man-Chess Game
"Guess what, found the book you wanted,"
I said to myself as to what I think I'd say to you later. Picked a random page, curious if its going to inspire me as it inspires you. Curious of the things you always talked about.
Picked a single rose petal, put it on the first page. Wrapped the book, looks brand new. Can't wait to see you. Wish I could see the face you'd make when you open the book.
I was never a 'book guy'. Last time I enjoyed reading a book, was coincidentally a time I hoped I never lived through. But you know what, maybe you'll reignite the passion in me. As everything you do inspires me.
I'm sure I'll enjoy everything you want me to try. I'll be sure to open my ears to everything you say. I'm sure I'll be able to do anything you asked me to do. For how long, you asked? The answer's up to you. I'll do as long as you want me to.
Then, we met. Halfway to both our destination. Gave you the book, now you're two moves short. You know what? I'll stop counting the moves if you want me to, and you don't have to initiate a move if you choose not to.
You said a few words. You were never really talkative, so am I. Didn't caught a single word. But I did caught how often you fix your hair, I did caught the pretty smile you hid, I did caught the wonder in your stare.
I was a coward, you brought courage. Foolish of me, I made you wait. I wonder if its going to be different if I didn't hesitate. What I had been able to achieve if I had more courage. I guess those are the things we were meant to regret, no point in looking back.
Now you know what I've kept to myself this last seven years. I was asking for you to hold the door, you kept the door opened with no clarity if you'll wait or let go when someone else came before me. But you know what? That was more than I expected, at least I could see you more, as long as you hold the door.
Onto the next move. You're two moves short, and someone begged me to stop playing. But just know that I won't, I'll wait for you or I'll play this one-man-chess if that is what you want.
